How does oily hair influence hair loss?
Increased production by the sebaceous glands in our scalp causes the follicular sac where the bulb, or hair root, grows to become oilier than desired. Excess oil in the hair follicle can cause the bulb to suffocate, as it is unable to oxygenate properly through its connection to the blood supply.
This causes discomfort and the need to wash your hair daily to avoid feeling dirty, having damp-looking roots or itching when combined with sweat. We have observed that in many cases when the root is very oily, the shaft does not get the necessary nutrition and oxygenation, resulting in weak, fine and duller hair.
